Ah, the all-powerful League matching algorithm. Wondering how it works and how you can make it work best for you? Let’s review:
Every day at Happy Hour (5pm local time), you’ll receive Prospects to review on the Scout tab. We do our very best to only show you to people who meet your preferences, AND where you meet theirs, prioritized by those that we think you will have the highest compatibility with–we don’t believe in wasting anyone’s time! The number of potentials you see daily is calculated largely based on your membership tier, but that number is also dependent on the size of our community in your area.
Behavioral data and years of experience creating successful matches allows The League to make additional recommendations for you based on more than just your preferences. For example, set a goal to become Pickleball World Champion? You just might find your practice partner and soulmate in your next Batch based on that shared goal.
In an ongoing effort to foster a highly engaged community, a user who likes everyone but never messages, will be deprioritized in the matching algorithm. This lack of communication on the app will also impact your flakiness score and ‘Flakes’ eventually get kicked out! On the other hand, users who log in every day have a higher match rate, so make sure to check the app often.
Want to see your boss on a dating app? We didn’t think so. Be sure to sync your LinkedIn and we will block you from your business connections and coworkers.
So now that you know how the algo works, how can you get more matches? First thing’s first, make sure you have a complete profile and 6 high-quality photos. Your first photo is your first impression, so make sure it’s your best one! Our data shows that users with 4-6 photos in their profile match twice as often as those with fewer.
Next, be open-minded. Your height/age/distance preferences may be causing you to filter out ‘THE ONE’, not to mention narrowing your dating pool. We recommend being as inclusive as possible. And, the more people you like, the higher your chances of matching.

DIGITAL SERVICES ACT (DSA EU)
The Digital Services Act (DSA) is a European Union (EU) regulation that requires online platforms to provide a dedicated report flow for EU users to report illegal content under EU or Member State law.
Content that violates our Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, or is illegal will be removed from our platform. Per our policies, additional action may be taken against the account responsible for the prohibited content.
EU Users: If you find content you believe is illegal, please submit a report through the in-app report option by clicking Report Illegal Content under Settings>Support. Alternatively, EU users may report illegal content by clicking HERE.
In your report, please provide the following information to help us promptly identify the content at issue and take action on your report, including:
- how the content is illegal
- how we can locate the content being reported
- any other additional information that could be helpful (including screenshots or attachments)
If there is not enough information to identify the reported content, we may be unable to take action on the report.
Non-EU Users – Users outside the EU are encouraged to report illegal or prohibited content through the in-app reporting options available on the profile where the content is also located. You can click on the Flag icon in the lower-left corner of the user profile you are reporting and tell us why you are flagging them by clicking “Other” and giving us details. You may also email Safety@TheLeague.com with the details of why you are reporting.
